In Loving Memory of Steven Ducote
BUNKIE, La. — The St. Landry Parish community is mourning the sudden loss of Steven Ducote, 68, of Morrow, who tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash early this morning. The fatal accident occurred on La. 29 near La. 115, casting a somber shadow over the tight-knit community.
According to authorities, Louisiana State Police responded to the crash at approximately 7:15 a.m. Investigators reported that Ducote was driving a 2015 Ford truck southbound on La. 29 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2024 International tractor-trailer traveling northbound. Emergency personnel arrived quickly, but sadly, Ducote was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the site of the crash.
At this time, officials have not determined whether impairment played a role in the crash. Standard toxicology tests were collected from Ducote to aid investigators in understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have emphasized that the crash remains under investigation, as they work to uncover the full details of this tragic event.
