With hearts weighed down by grief and disbelief, we remember and honor the life of Jaziaha Moody—a young soul taken far too soon. At just 15 years old, Jaziaha’s life was tragically cut short on a Friday night in Reno, leaving behind a void that words can scarcely begin to fill.

Jaziaha was more than a name in a headline—he was a son, a friend, a classmate, and a young man full of promise. Those who knew him speak of his energy, his laughter, and the quiet but powerful way he brought light into the lives of others. At an age when dreams are just beginning to take shape, Jaziaha was still discovering who he would become, and the world will never get to see the fullness of that journey.

On that heartbreaking night, police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex along South Meadows Parkway. When officers arrived, they found Jaziaha suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the swift response, his life could not be saved. Another individual was also injured but survived, a reminder of how many lives are touched and forever changed in moments of violence like this.

The suspect, Cameron Wadsworth, was later taken into custody and booked into the Washoe County Jail. While justice will take its course, it does not lessen the pain felt by Jaziaha’s loved ones or the community that now mourns him.

In remembering Jaziaha, we choose to focus not on the tragedy of how he died, but on the beauty of how he lived. He was young, vibrant, and deeply loved.
