In Loving Memory of Catandra Summers and Tanika Summers

In Loving Memory of Catandra Summers and Tanika Summers

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we honor and remember the lives of Catandra Summers and Tanika Summers, two women whose lives were tragically and violently taken on Friday at the Jacaranda Trail Apartments in Arcadia, Florida. Their passing has left a devastating void in the hearts of their loved ones, friends, and the broader community, who are now grappling with grief, shock, and unanswered questions.

Catandra and Tanika were more than victims of a tragic incident—they were daughters, sisters, friends, and individuals whose lives held meaning, promise, and connection to those around them. Their names now join far too many others remembered not only for how they lived, but for the sudden and painful way their lives were taken.

According to authorities, law enforcement officers from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and Arcadia Police Department responded to a domestic-related shooting at approximately 9:12 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Catandra Summers deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. In the midst of the unfolding investigation, officers continued to secure the scene and search for the suspect responsible.

As the investigation expanded throughout the day, a second devastating discovery was made. At approximately 1:09 p.m., while officers were still on scene, they were alerted to another woman in a nearby building who was unresponsive. That woman, Tanika Summers, had also suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

The suspect, Eric Devon Robinson, was located in the area and taken into custody without further incident. He has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, along with additional serious charges including aggravated assault, kidnapping, robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, contempt of court, obstruction of justice, and weapons-related offenses. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

But beyond the case files, charges, and investigation updates are two lives that mattered deeply.

Catandra and Tanika were not defined by the violence that ended their lives. They were defined by the love they gave, the relationships they built, and the moments they shared with those closest to them. They leave behind families who will forever remember their voices, their laughter, their presence in everyday life—the small and meaningful details that can never truly be replaced.

In the wake of this unimaginable loss, grief settles heavily over those who knew them. There is no simple way to make sense of such tragedy, especially when it occurs within spaces that should represent safety, home, and peace. The pain left behind is profound, and the healing journey will be long and deeply personal for all who mourn them.

Yet even in sorrow, Catandra and Tanika’s memories remain. They live on in the stories shared by loved ones, in photographs preserved through time, and in the hearts of those who refuse to let their names fade into silence. Their lives, though cut short, are still meaningful and worthy of remembrance, dignity, and honor.

As their families and community seek strength in the days ahead, may they find comfort in unity, compassion, and support. May Catandra Summers and Tanika Summers be remembered not only for the tragedy that took them, but for the love they gave and the lives they lived.

Rest in peace, Catandra and Tanika. Your lives mattered, your presence was cherished, and your memory will endure.
