The accident occurred around noon along Highway 70 near the intersection of Cedar Grove Road, involving a Clarksville-Montgomery County School System bus, a Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV. The bus was carrying approximately 25 students and five adults on their way to a GreenpowerUSA event in Jackson—a day that was meant to be filled with learning, excitement, and opportunity. Instead, it became a day marked forever by loss.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, met with a scene of profound devastation. Multiple agencies worked together in a coordinated effort to provide aid and transport the injured. Nine medical helicopters were dispatched, carrying critically injured victims to trauma centers in Nashville and Memphis. At Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County, numerous individuals were evaluated and later released, while several children were transferred to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where they remain in stable condition.
