In Loving Memory of Gmo Person 🕊️
The city of Lansing is grieving the heartbreaking and untimely loss of Gmo Person, who passed away on March 26, 2026, at just 28 years old. His sudden departure has left family, friends, and the wider community in deep sorrow, as they come to terms with a life taken far too soon.
Gmo’s passing followed a tragic motor vehicle crash in Putnam Township, an incident that unfolded during a high-speed police pursuit earlier that day. Authorities reported that a deputy from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office located a stolen 2024 Range Rover traveling along Interstate 96 near Mason Road. What followed was a dangerous sequence of events, as the vehicle exited the freeway and accelerated southbound on D-19 at extremely high speeds.
Near the intersection of D-19 and Swarthout Road, the situation turned devastating. The vehicle attempted to pass another driver making a left turn, resulting in a violent collision involving multiple vehicles. Gmo sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to the University of Michigan Hospital, where despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced deceased.
Reports indicate that neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and investigations remain ongoing regarding other contributing factors. While the details surrounding the incident are still being examined, the loss of Gmo Person has already left an undeniable mark on those who knew him.
Beyond the circumstances of that tragic day, Gmo was a human being with a story, a presence, and connections that mattered. He was someone’s son, someone’s friend, someone whose laughter, struggles, and moments of joy were real and meaningful. His life, though cut short, carried value and impact that cannot be defined by a single moment.
In times like these, communities are reminded of both the fragility of life and the importance of compassion. Gmo’s passing is not only a moment of grief but also a call to reflect—on choices, on safety, and on the bonds we share with one another.
As loved ones gather to mourn, may they also find strength in shared memories and comfort in knowing that Gmo’s life, however brief, will not be forgotten. His name will continue to live on in the hearts of those who cared for him, and his memory will remain a part of the story of Lansing.
Rest in peace, Gmo Person. Your life mattered, and your memory will endure. 🕊️
