In Loving Memory of David Downen
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember the life of David Downen, 61, of Moulton, Iowa, whose life was tragically lost following a devastating crash on Sunday night, just west of Bloomfield, Iowa. His passing has left family, friends, and the community grieving a loss that came far too suddenly.
According to authorities, the tragic accident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on Highway 2, approximately three-and-a-half miles west of Bloomfield, near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 63 South. Iowa State Troopers reported that David was driving an SUV when the vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane. Moments later, it collided head-on with another SUV traveling in the correct direction.
The other vehicle was driven by Kobi Roberts, 25, of La Plata, Missouri, who had a passenger, Jesse Smith, 56, of Unionville, Iowa, in the vehicle. All three individuals involved in the crash were transported to Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, David Downen was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital, leaving behind a wave of grief for those who knew and loved him.
