In Loving Memory of Tonya Denise Burnett Bracknell
With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Tonya Denise Burnett Bracknell, a beloved member of the Irvington community, whose life was tragically cut short on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Tonya, 54, passed away in a devastating two-vehicle collision on Irvington Bayou La Batre Highway near Oliver Clark Road in Mobile County, Alabama. Her sudden passing has left her family, friends, and community grappling with grief and disbelief.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Tonya was driving her 2016 Toyota Highlander when it collided head-on with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 19-year-old Trevor L. Wilkerson of Theodore. Tonya was pronounced deceased at the scene. Tragically, the accident also left Wilkerson and two young passengers—aged 7 and 4—injured and in need of medical care at nearby hospitals. Troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are actively investigating the crash.
Tonya was more than just a resident of Irvington—she was a loving mother, a devoted friend, and a caring neighbor whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Friends and family remember her for her generosity, her laughter, and her ability to bring light into the lives of those around her. She was a steady presence, always ready to lend a hand, offer comfort, or share a smile. Her nurturing spirit extended not only to her family but also to her community, where she inspired others through her compassion and her commitment to helping those in need.
Though Tonya’s life ended far too soon, her legacy lives on in the countless moments she shared with her loved ones—the stories, the laughter, and the lessons she imparted will forever be treasured. The children who were with her that morning, as well as her family, carry with them the memory of her love, guidance, and unwavering care.
In times like these, words often feel inadequate to express the depth of sorrow and loss. Yet, we remember Tonya not for the tragedy that took her from us, but for the life she lived—a life full of warmth, love, and meaningful connections. Her presence enriched the lives of everyone she encountered, and her spirit will continue to inspire and comfort those who loved her.
The Irvington and Mobile County communities join together in mourning Tonya’s passing while celebrating the joy and love she brought into the world. In honoring her memory, we are reminded to cherish each day, embrace those we love, and hold onto the moments that truly matter.
Tonya Denise Burnett Bracknell will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and eternally cherished. May her soul rest in peace, and may her family and friends find strength and solace in the love and memories she leaves behind.
