Responding with courage and commitment, Detective Hoppert stood alongside his fellow officers, answering the call to protect and serve. In the face of sudden danger, he acted with the same bravery and dedication that defined his entire career. Though he was rushed to the hospital after being struck by gunfire, he sadly succumbed to his injuries—leaving behind not only a grieving department, but a devastated family and community.
Detective Hoppert was far more than a badge and uniform. He was a man of heart, compassion, and unwavering integrity. Sheriff Mike Boudreaux described him not only as a “very good cop,” but as a fun-loving, confident individual who deeply cared about the people around him.
