The Louisa County community is mourning the tragic loss of Andrew Glen Knight, 35, of Mineral, Virginia, who passed away on the evening of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in a heartbreaking drowning incident at Lakeview Drive.

According to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 8:05 PM to the Lakeview Drive common area after a report of a possible drowning involving an overturned kayak. Preliminary accounts indicate that Andrew was on the water with a young male child when their kayak capsized. Neither Andrew nor the child were wearing life vests at the time. In a remarkable act of quick thinking and bravery, a concerned citizen nearby was able to safely rescue the child, ensuring his safety.

Tragically, Andrew was reportedly attempting to push the kayak back toward shore when he went underwater. Despite immediate efforts by those on the scene to locate him, he was lost from sight. Emergency responders, including deputies from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Fire, and EMS personnel, arrived quickly. The Spotsylvania County Dive Team was called in to assist with the search. After approximately one hour of diligent efforts, Andrew was located by the dive team and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Andrew Glen Knight is remembered not only for the life he lived but also for the love, dedication, and spirit he brought to his family, friends, and community. His untimely passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him.
