The accident occurred around 1:13 p.m. on Stonecreek Road, just north of Circle Drive, when Dalton, driving a Mercury Grand Marquis, was involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota Highlander. According to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia post, Dalton’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck the Highlander, driven by Alyssa Maculaitis, 33, of New Philadelphia. The impact was severe, and Dalton was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.

Dalton’s passenger, Emily Harford, 21, also of West Lafayette, survived the crash but sustained injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment. Alyssa Maculaitis was also transported to Akron General, while her 2-year-old son, safely secured in a car seat, was treated at the scene and released to a family member. The Ohio Highway Patrol confirmed that all adults involved were wearing seatbelts, and the child was properly restrained.
