With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember the life of Mitchell Ventress, a young man whose life was tragically taken far too soon. At just 26 years old, Mitchell’s passing has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the wider community in Baton Rouge.
On that heartbreaking evening, deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 7 p.m., a moment that would forever alter the lives of many. What began as an ordinary day ended in tragedy, as Mitchell lost his life in an incident that remains painful to comprehend. Authorities later revealed that the events unfolded during a meeting in a parking lot, where circumstances took a devastating turn.
Three individuals—Kevonta Dennis, Keedrick Jack, and Keondra McNeely—were arrested in connection with the incident. They are currently being held in an East Baton Rouge Parish facility and are expected to be transferred to the Livingston Parish Detention Center as the legal process continues. While investigations and proceedings move forward, no outcome can undo the loss that Mitchell’s loved ones now carry.
