At approximately 6:15 a.m., her 2005 Ford Focus was struck by a southbound 2023 Mack dump truck while she was attempting to turn north onto Route 7. Despite the rapid response from emergency crews, Hailey was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marietta Post, alongside the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Newport Volunteer Fire Department, Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department, the Washington County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation, responded swiftly to the incident. Officials have stated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
