In Loving Memory of Jonal N. Hodge (“Athęnã Athėñę”)

With hearts weighed down by grief and disbelief, we remember and honor the life of Jonal N. Hodge, affectionately known as “Athęnã Athėñę,” whose beautiful life was tragically taken on March 18, 2026, in High Point, North Carolina. At just 22 years old, Jonal’s life was filled with promise, light, and a spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Jonal was more than a name—she was a vibrant soul, a young woman full of dreams, strength, and individuality. Known by many through her unique presence and expressive personality, she carried a light that shone brightly in the lives of her friends, family, and community. Whether through her laughter, her style, or her voice, Jonal made herself known in a way that could never be forgotten.

In the early hours of that tragic morning, a senseless act of violence unfolded at the Oaks at Silver Ridge apartment complex. Responding officers arrived swiftly, doing everything in their power to save her. Despite their efforts and the urgent care provided by emergency responders, Jonal succumbed to her injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. Her passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of those who loved her.

This tragedy, rooted in domestic violence, serves as a painful reminder of the dangers that can exist behind closed doors. Jonal’s life was taken in an act that should never have happened—an act that has left a community shaken and a family devastated beyond words.

Those who knew Jonal remember her as someone who lived authentically and loved deeply. She had a presence that could light up a room and a spirit that refused to be dimmed. Her nickname, “Athęnã Athėñę,” reflected her individuality—a symbol of strength, identity, and uniqueness. She was a daughter, a friend, and a young woman with a future ahead of her—one that was tragically stolen.

While the circumstances surrounding her passing are heartbreaking, her memory will not be defined by the violence that took her, but by the life she lived. Her laughter, her energy, and her love will continue to echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

As we mourn Jonal, we also reflect on the importance of awareness, support, and intervention in situations of domestic violence. No one deserves to have their life cut short in such a way. May her story be a call to action—a reminder to protect, to listen, and to stand up for those who may be suffering in silence.

To Jonal’s family and loved ones, words cannot ease the depth of this loss, but may you find strength in one another and comfort in the memories you shared. Jonal’s light, though no longer present in this world, will continue to shine in every life she touched.

Rest in peace, Jonal N. Hodge.
